2021: Year in Review

Spring

Jack with the Grand Cup at our summer recital!

In April, 41 students participated in our local National Federation of Music Clubs’ Gold Cup Festival. All of our students received a Superior this year for the third year in a row! Additionally, Jack Ferry took part in the competition event and was awarded both a camp scholarship and a college scholarship. This was Jack’s 14th consecutive superior and he was awarded the Grand Cup for this achievement.

Also in April, Carson Howe (“Joe”), Elliott Jenner (“Tom”), and Joe Weidig (“George”) were in their school’s production of School House Rock Live!. Joe appeared as “Hugo” and Analiesa Hollowood was in the ensemble of Tuck Everlasting with Young People’s Theatre in May.

At the end of the school year, Francis Howell Central choir members, Carson and Elliott were both recognized for their contributions to the choir program at the school. Carson received a Director’s Award and Elliott was awarded a Silver Shield of Excellence, which is awarded yearly to one student in each department. Jack was awarded the Knightpride Bandsman award at Francis Howell North. This award is the highest award given by the band!

Fall

Jane Childs, Analiesa, and Joe were all selected for the Metro 8 SATB Honors Choir, and Joe qualified for an audition for the State Honor Choir. Emma Williss was selected for the Metro 8 SSAA Honors Choir.

We had a fall recital in October at Calvary Church. It was windy, but fun! It was great to see some of our virtual students in person.

Shreeya was asked to sing the national anthem for her school’s Veteran’s Day ceremony and Yash played a piano solo for his school’s mass. I know that several other piano students were asked to play for their music classes at school throughout the fall semester as well.

Holidays/Winter

Analiesa at the Teen Talent Prelims!

During the holiday season, Hayden Holz played a piano solo for his school’s advent service. Joe (“Santa”) and Alyssa Riegerix (Ensemble) appeared in Elf with Young People’s Theatre, while Ethan & Carson performed with Ambassadors of Harmony in their annual Christmas show the same weekend.

Analiesa & Lacey advanced to the semifinal round of the Fox Performing Arts Charitable Foundation’s Teen Talent Competition. They will each compete in January for the chance to move on to the final round at The Fabulous Fox Theatre.

Congrats to all of our students on their musical accomplishments this year! I’m looking forward to an exciting year of performances and competitions in 2022!
